課程大綱

本課程提供學生及職前專業人士必備之英語文語言技巧，強調工程專業領域之英文溝通能力之訓練。課程內容依學院專業內容區分並整合英語文之聽說讀寫之能力為未來全球化移動及以英語專業溝通人才培育為目標。 This beginning-level ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes) course aims to provide pre-service engineering students/professionals with the adequate skills of the English language and communicative competence to facilitate their current academic and future career pursuits. Students are encouraged to utilize their domain expertise to participate in professional communication in English. Centered on the training of professional use of the English language, the ESAP curriculum as the crux of a highly-integrated work of domain knowledge and the English learning development embodies the indispensable credentials required for a global profession.

Week 1: Course Introduction & Cross-cultural Communication Warm-up 課程介紹、學習策略、跨文化溝通基礎、發音暖身與英語遊戲 Week 2: Introducing Yourself & Exchanging Personal Details 自我介紹、字母拼讀、基數與電話號碼 Week 3: Talking about Dates, Times & Schedules 日期、時間、序數、時刻表閱讀與聽力 Week 4: Identifying Objects & Technical Parts 零件與工具名稱、this/that/these/those、基本物件描述 Week 5: Describing Size, Color & Quantity 尺寸、顏色、數量表達；物件描述對話練習 Week 6: Tools and Their Functions 工具部位、用途描述、have 句型與現在簡單式 Week 7: Positions, Locations & Occupations 位置介系詞、職業介紹、工作場域對話 Week 8: Listening/Reading Practice 聽力與閱讀技巧整合練習 Week 9: Midterm Exam 期中筆試 Week 10: Describing Movement & Direction 方向副詞、can / can't 表達能力、移動描述 Week 11: Controls, Speed & Operating Instructions 控制裝置、速度單位、imperative + present simple Week 12: Fluid Systems & Flow 流體系統、進出方向介系詞、流動動詞 Week 13: Circuits & Cause-Effect Relationships 電路詞彙、電學單位、零條件句（If... , ...） Week 14: Describing Ongoing Actions & Processes 現在進行式、動作描述、拼字規則 Week 15: Materials, Properties & Professional Contact Information 材料屬性、Email/網址唸法、電話應對句型 Week 16: Final Exam 期末筆試 (課程依照學生實際狀況微調)

評量方式

Overall score 學期科目總分 = (1) EPE x 20% + (2) Class Performance (CP) x 80% (1) School-wide English Proficiency Exam (EPE) 校際英文會考: 20% (2) Class Performance (CP) 課程表現 (100%): - Midterm Exam 期中考: 20% - Final Exam 期末考: 20% - Guided Writing 寫作練習: 15% (2 tasks 兩次寫作) - Speaking Activities 口說練習: 15% (3 tasks 三次口說) - Project (W17-18) 專案: 10% (graded on completion, teamwork, and individual contribution; not counted in Speaking or Writing) - Attendance 出席: 20% (-5% for each unexcused absence 無故缺席一堂課 -5%) Any student who accumulates FIVE unexcused absences in the semester will receive a no-credit status. 無故缺席5次，即無法獲得本課程學分。

All materials, handouts, and slides are in English. At least 70% of classroom instruction and teacher-student interaction is conducted in English.
