課程大綱

本課程旨在培養學生英語課程設計與教學規劃的能力。學生將學習分析學習者需求、設定課程目標、規劃課程綱要，以及設計適切的英語教材與學習活動。透過理論探討、實作工作坊、數位工具探索及專題設計，學生將實際運用課程設計理念，發展具創意、互動性及以學習者為中心的英語課程。 This course develops students’ skills in designing creative, engaging, learner-centered language courses. Students learn to analyze needs, set goals, design syllabi, and create meaningful materials and tasks. Through theory, workshops, digital experimentation, and collaborative and individual projects, students explore communication, creativity, autonomy, play, reflection, and innovative approaches to language teaching.

課程進度

Part I. Fundamentals of Language Course Design (Weeks 1–5) Introduction to key principles and processes of language course design, including needs analysis, goal setting, syllabus design, and learner-centered approaches. Part II. Applications of Language Course Design (Weeks 6–12) Hands-on exploration of course design through materials development, task and activity design, digital tools, AI-supported design, and innovative approaches to language learning. Part III. Course Design Projects (Weeks 13–16) Students apply course design principles to develop, refine, and present their own language course design projects through collaborative work, peer feedback, and iterative improvement. Part IV. Reflection and Synthesis (Weeks 17–18) Students reflect on their learning, review their design process and projects, and synthesize key principles for their future language teaching and course design practices.

評量方式

Your final grade will be based on the quality of your work in the following areas. Note: The grading scheme may be adjusted slightly based on the final set of assigned activities, assignments, and projects. 1. Attendance and Participation (10%) You are expected to attend all class sessions, complete assigned readings and preparation, and participate actively and thoughtfully in class discussions, workshops, and collaborative activities. 2. Activities and Assignments (20%) Throughout the semester, you will complete a variety of in-class activities and homework assignments designed to help you apply key concepts and develop practical skills in language course design. 3. Discussion Leads (10%) Each week, assigned readings will provide a foundation for class discussion. Students will take turns presenting key ideas from selected readings and leading an interactive discussion with the class. 4. Group Project and Showcase (30%) You will work collaboratively on a group project that applies course design principles to the development of an innovative language learning activity or learning experience. At the end of the project, each group will showcase its work, explain its design process and rationale, and share key insights with the class. 5. Final Project and Course Design Portfolio (30%) For the final project, you will design a language course tailored to a specific learner population and teaching context. You will develop a course design portfolio documenting key components of your course, such as learner needs, learning goals, syllabus and course structure, materials and activities, assessment strategies, and your design rationale and reflections.
