The course focuses on the principles and techniques of electrochemical analysis, using the related methods and curves commonly found in journal papers for explanation. The basic techniques covered include potentiometry, voltammetry, chronoamperometry or chronopotentiometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy etc. Advanced analyses such as Tafel plots, Mott-Schottky analysis, E-pH diagrams, the Randles-Sevcik relation, and the Levich equation are also explained. The topics span various fields, including corrosion, resource recovery technologies, electrochemical metallurgy, semiconductor processes (etching, electrodeposition, CMP), batteries and capacitors, electrocatalysis, electroreduction, electrodeposition, electrolysis, electrochemical machining, and electrochemical sensors etc. The goal is to enable students to comprehend and understand the experimental design and results discussion in professional electrochemistry research papers.
