課程大綱

本課程著重教導學生閱讀文章，並藉由文章訓練學生閱讀理解、字彙建構、以及語言解析能力。教材著重於科學、科技以及工程方面的文章，並藉由課堂延展活動增進學生於科學、科技以及工程領域的英語能力。 The course provides students with explicit, skill-based instruction in learning how to process and decipher the readings that serve as springboards for reading skill development, vocabulary building, and language analysis. Selected readings will be centered around science, technology, and engineering. Extension activities are designed to improve students’ technical English skills to be used in the fields of science, technology, and engineering.

評量方式

Proposal Memo: 20% Technical Presentation: 35% Participation & Preparation: 25% (including in-class work) University-Wide English Exam (April 21): 20% By the end of the course, students will be able to: Proposal Memo: Write a proposal memo proposing a concrete change to an organization they belong to, using audience-aware tone, a clear problem–solution structure, and specific supporting reasons. Negotiate in a structured role-play by stating interests, making at least one concession, and proposing one package deal or tradeoff to reach terms. Technical Presentation: deliver a technical briefing that explains a system, process, or technology, and interprets relevant data.
